Thinking of ...

I have found my mind thinking of this wonderful lady the last little while. I was able to go and see my Gram on our visit to Utah in June. It was so good to see her and spend time with her. I grew up with her as such a special part of my life. She is really sick right now and they are not sure how much time she has left in this life. It is killing me to think that I can't be there to be with her. I hate that there is nothing I can do but just wait. Wait across the ocean, for an email about how she is doing. Most of my family is there with her. Sharing memories together. Getting to say their last goodbyes. And I feel myself thinking about all of the things I still want to ask her and stories I want her to re-tell to me, just to be sure I remember them enough to tell my kids. Oh what I would give to be able to be there with her. To tell her in person how much I love her. And to just be able to give her one last hug.

I guess you never really know when it will be the last time you see someone. It is a reminder to me to  cherish each moment you spend with someone, especially those you love most.
In all of this I know, that we have a loving Heavenly Father who has a greater plan for us. I am so grateful for that knowledge, to know that there is a plan, greater than we can comprehend. And to recognize that death is not the end. Being so far away from family at this time has made me ultimately rely on this truth. "Families can be together forever through Heavenly Father's plan." What a great comfort this is to me. I love my family more than anything. And I love that I get to be with them forever. I love you Gram and wish I could be there to spend these last few moments with you.

I know what you mean... the same thing is happening with my Grandma and it's really sad. I feel bad being just a couple states away.
You could see if someone was willing to tape record/video tape her telling some stories.
