Scott's Head & Champagne Bay

We took a trip to Scott's Head and Champagne Bay on November 4. It worked out perfectly because Broc had his mini on Friday. We don't get many opportunities like this during the semester. We are trying to see as much of the island as possible before we leave (which I feel is coming way too fast!) Our first stop was Scott's Head, which is about an hour and a half away from where we live. If you hike up "Scott's Head" you can see where the Caribbean Sea meets the Atlantic! Pretty dang amazing.

Now when I say "hike" I really mean trudge through the jungle! It was covered in long grass almost the whole way up. Crew really hated it. But made it to the top all by himself!

We found a little place to sit and enjoy our lunch about half way up! It was a place to sit and perfectly shaded. It was nice until the ants started crawling places they should never be! Ants in our pants!! Hate them!

Jack was really excited when we made it to the top!

The look out!

So beautiful!

At the top of the hike you find a look out spot and the remains of an old cannon dating back to the 1700's. So cool. I love the history of this island!

And this is probably one of my favorite pics from our trip!

This is classic Dominica... lush, green, mountains next to the ocean with hovering clouds at the top!

I LOVE test days! ... I LOVE him!

Crew found a hermit crab and wanted to bring it home with us.

Look at how amazingly blue the water is! Some of the people in our group went snorkeling. We brought stuff but there wasn't really time after we hiked up the mountain and tried to find a bathroom for Crew. Trips like this are always fun, when you are in the middle of no where and your 4 year old tells you he NEEDS to use the bathroom... not just tinkle!

After we had got our feel for Scott's Head, we headed to Champagne Bay. It isn't too far from Scott's Head. It is called Champagne Bay because the water has some volcanic activity and when you snorkel there it looks like a glass of champagne with all the bubbles. (top left picture)

We grabbed some drinks at this cute little snacket.

I was in love with this old wooden bridge!

This wasn't so much a "kid friendly" beach. It was covered in ROCKS!

The boys didn't seem to mind though. Throwing rocks is just as fun as building sand castles!... until you almost nail the old lady sitting next to us.

Broc went snorkeling. It is sometimes hard taking kiddos to places like this especially because it wasn't such a kid friendly spot... and someone has to stay with them. So we would have just traded off, Broc snorkels while I watch the kids and then he stays with them while I go out. That was a great plan except I really am kind of a chicken when it comes to snorkeling. I didn't want to go out by myself for two reasons. One, I really don't feel like I know what I am doing (I kind of panic sometimes- don't judge I have only been one time!) and two, the current was super strong. But I was ok just throwing rocks with the boys!

Good thing we had his binky on a leash so it wouldn't get dirty eh?!

Poor little bubbers. No good naps in on this trip! He was a champ though.

Oh I love him and all of his cute expressions!

Crew was watching a lizard. I laughed and it scared the lizard away. Crew was not happy with me!
